Transition Areas (TA)
Transition Areas, or TAs, are the designated place for the runner relay exchange to take place. TA's are numbered 1 through 36 and are identified in this way on the course maps and directions.
Vehicle Transition Areas (VTA) - General Description
Vehicle Transition Areas, or VTAs, are those TA locations where vehicle rotations take place from the first half and second half of your team; i.e., the first 6 runners (Van 1) and the next 6 runners (Van 2). These are the primary support locations for all teams. Each VTA will contain restroom facilities and/or port-o-johns, food and water/hydration stations, and larger parking locations for your vehicles (some locations can accommodate camping as well).
Though there will be restroom facilities at most transition areas, the VTA's were selected due to their ability to accommodate your entire team rather than an individual runner. Your team will be able to catch up on sleep and recover at these locations.
Food and beverages, if provided, have been done so at the expense and efforts of our volunteer community organizations. These are not complimentary unless indicated. So, please show your gratitude accordingly.
